Bamboo charcoal water filters (set of 4)

These four sticks of kiln-fired bamboo charcoal are a simple, plastic-free alternative to cartridge filters. Rinse them, boil for ten minutes, then pop them in a jug of tap water. The charcoal is very porous and absorbs the chlorine that affects how tap water tastes and smells, which leaves you with softer, fresher water for drinking, tea and coffee. Each set lasts about two months. We stock them because nothing is wasted at the end of that time: you can put the sticks in a shoe, a cupboard or the fridge to absorb odours and damp, and then crumble them into the compost or onto the garden. They come in a small cotton bag, so there’s no plastic and no cartridge to send to landfill.
